Extracurricular Coordinator (American College Grad/ Repat/ Expat)

The Role

We are looking for a student life officer with native or a previous US residential background. The position is open not limited to international travelers but also to their spouses who are currently living in Myanmar and are interested to bring intercultural values to the local community, and are good with people skills.

Responsibilities

Student Life in 2 +2 American University Program

  • Arrange events and student life activities for current students who are preparing to transfer to the U.S.

  • Ensure program quality and work together with the program team for the term scheduling, term faculty, transfer, visa session and student life experience

  • In collaboration with the program team, place students into classes based on student academic background and classes previously taken, while accommodating special cases

  • Monitor student behavior and carry out disciplinary procedures when students breech school rules

  • Monitor student attendance with the assistance of Program Associates and Teaching Assistants to ensure students and parents are notified if their absences surpass the typical limit

  • Conduct course evaluations, and make recommendations to the Program Team regarding potential improvements to textbooks, materials, and quality

  • Arrange career workshops, visa session, consulting session, etc from time to time to support our alumni and current students;

  • Ensure effective communication between Faculty, Staff, and Students    

Student Life in External Programs

  • Organize and hold on-campus social events, public lectures, and workshops for general youth

  • Plan and lead Pre-University sessions and workshops

  • Invite and hold events for parents, faculties and AU to become the networking bridge in the international community

  • Work together with various teams for the unique AU experience of students, parents, alumni and AU network

  • Provide suggestions and support with the marketing, digital marketing and social campaigns for student recruitments

  • Work collaboratively with the Admissions Office to plan for the recruitment cycle and support and ensure recruitment of suitable students to the program

New Initiatives

  • Initiate or collaborate in new project initiations and developments (TedX events, Science projects, Funding applications for environmental and social projects, Partnership initiatives, Relationships with partner organizations, etc) that would benefit the program and overall student life experience as well as program development

  • Work with the Program Team, Members of Board of Administration and U.S. University Partners to strategically plan for any improvements to the program from time to time

Deal makers

  • Native or Bilingual who can provide U.S. or international cultural exposure to the general student body of Myanmar

  • Demonstrate adaptability, creativity, and meticulosity, as well as excellent written and oral communication skills 

  • Interest in being part of an organization that takes the lead in the educational development of Myanmar
