2 + 2 Transfer Program

American University of Yangon offers students an opportunity to earn certifiable course credits for a four-year U.S. undergraduate degree right here in Myanmar. The Freshman and Sophomore years of study take place in Yangon and are composed of a broad range of General Education courses required by and transferrable to affiliated U.S. universities. Students are equipped with the knowledge and skills to meet the rigorous educational standards and student life demands of U.S. universities during the program.

Upon completion of the two-year program at American University of Yangon, students choose their majors and finish their Junior and Senior years of study in the United States at one of our partner universities. Our courses are recognized and endorsed by our partner U.S. universities under the “International Studies Program” agreement, and the course credits comply with the U.S. educational standards.

2 Years in Yangon…

The courses are designed to equip students with the knowledge and skills to meet the rigorous educational standards and student life of U.S. universities, so the program covers a diversity of subject areas to give students the opportunity to explore their true interests and broaden their knowledge.

The discussion-based approach in the classroom creates a collaborative environment where dialogue, exchange, and consultation can take place between students and instructors and among students. The program also provides in-class and out-of-class activities for students to gain wider understanding and perspectives through both theory and real-life experiences. Students are expected to take an active roll in class discussion and participate in events.

…2 Years in America

After completing two years at American University of Yangon, students can transfer directly to
the third year of our partner American universities below. Students may also apply to other universities of their choice. Please see the website of the individual universities for details on graduation/degree requirements for certain majors. Some majors may require more than
two years to graduate.

Transferring Credits

All American college and university students must take courses in two categories – in their Major and in General Education (GE). Most American students complete their GE courses in their first two years of a four-year university program. ISP is designed to assist international students in completing these courses as efficiently and cost-effectively as possible domestically, so that, after transfer to an American school, the student can concentrate on his/her chosen Major. GE courses stress skills needed to survive and prosper in the student’s area of specialized study or major – in areas such as Critical Thinking and Expository Writing – as well as ensure that the student has an adequate foundation in liberal arts and sciences. We look forward to helping you with all aspects of your GE program, as well as assisting you in preparing for transfer, so that your transition to the American educational experience is smooth and you can reach your educational goals.
